This policy explains what personal data Verse Noir collects through versenoir.com, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. We keep it short and collect as little as we can.

What we collect
Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it to send you news about our books and authors, exclusive excerpts and advance-copy offers. We use double opt-in, so you will only be added after you confirm your address from the email we send you. Your address is stored and processed by our email provider, MailerLite.
Ad measurement
If you click Accept in our cookie banner, we load the TikTok Pixel. It uses cookies and similar technology to tell us whether visitors from our TikTok ads view the site, click through to Amazon or sign up for the newsletter, so we can measure and improve our ads. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you visit and those actions. If you click Decline, or make no choice, the pixel is never loaded.
Your cookie choice
We save your Accept or Decline choice in your browser's local storage so we don't have to ask again. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
- Newsletter: to send you the emails you asked for. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- Ad measurement: to understand how our ads perform. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- Hosting and security: to deliver the website safely, our host briefly processes technical data such as IP addresses. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
You can withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did with your data before you withdrew it.
How long we keep it
- Email address: until you unsubscribe. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. If you never confirm your sign-up, the unconfirmed address is removed.
- Ad-measurement data: held by TikTok under its own retention rules. We only see aggregated results.
- Your cookie choice: until you change it or clear your browser's site data.
Third parties we use
- MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania) stores and sends our newsletter as our data processor. See MailerLite's privacy policy.
- TikTok receives ad-measurement data through the TikTok Pixel, only if you accept cookies. TikTok may transfer data outside the EU/EEA under its own safeguards. See TikTok's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Amazon. Our book links lead to Amazon. Once you are on Amazon, its own privacy policy applies. As an Amazon Associate, Verse Noir may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through these links, at no extra cost to you.
We never sell your personal data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification of data that is wrong or incomplete
- Erasure of your data
- Object to our processing, and withdraw your consent at any time

If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY) at imy.se.
Changing your cookie choice
You can change your choice at any time with the link in the footer of every page. If you switch from Accept to Decline, the pixel stops loading straight away.

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
